International VPET project Zug

First Apprenticeship Graduates of the Zug International VPET project

Yes, you can! Congratulations

They did it! For the first six graduates of the Zug International Vocational and Professional Education and Training project, it is now time to proudly accept their Certificate of Proficiency with supplement. Three years ago, they demonstrated a strong sense of self-confidence when they decided to complete their apprenticeship in the English language at all three learning locations, becoming pioneers in the Canton of Zug.

During their training, the apprentices from bildxzug and Roche Diagnostics International AG leveraged the advantages of working for an international company, as well as the chance to take cross-organizational courses and study a large number of subjects in English at the VET school. For three years, the Canton of Zug has been offering this internationally focused apprenticeship, which upon completion, awards the Swiss Certificate of Competence in Business and Swiss Certificate of Competence in Computer Science to its graduates. The apprenticeship is designed for youth with good English language skills who want to complete their training in a diversified and challenging international setting. It also gives youth from other countries who have sufficient knowledge of the German language the opportunity to receive vocational training. It is not possible for the apprentices to complete the program solely in the English language, as originally planned, because certain objectives must be fulfilled in the standard language specified by the VET Ordinance. After a rather slow start in the summer of 2015, the program has gained popularity both among youth and companies. In the beginning there were only these six apprentices working toward their business certification. Today there are more than twenty who are drawing on their confidence and drive to take on these challenges.
